SoberAF

Sobriety doesn't have to follow someone else's rules.
That's why at SoberAF, we're tearing up the playbook on recovery and starting our own revolution. This is a modern movement for lasting sobriety - on our terms.

We embrace all paths to freedom. Whether you’re counting days or forging your own way, we’re here to support you.
Belief in a higher power is optional – if it’s part of your journey, great; if not, that’s valid too. Strength comes in many forms, and we honour them all.
One size doesn’t fit everyone, and that’s okay. This journey is raw, unpredictable, and uniquely yours – and we’re here for all of it.
By letting go of substances, we grab onto something infinitely more valuable: Our lives .
So whether you meditate, pray, work the steps, are in recovery or just exploring – you’re welcome here.
Because at SoberAF, we believe sobriety might just be the most rebellious choice you'll ever make.

Fuel the Revolution
Membership to SoberAF will always be free – we believe that cost should never be a barrier to recovery. We want everyone who needs support to be able to access it, no matter their circumstances.
While we do ask for donations if you're in a position to give, there's no pressure and no one's keeping score. Every contribution goes directly into making this community stronger by helping cover the cost of meeting spaces, training, and essential resources.
We're currently raising funds to launch in both the UK and USA – please consider donating to help us reach more people who need support.
What is SoberAF?
SoberAF is a grassroots, peer-to-peer support network for anyone choosing sobriety - whether you’re in recovery, sober-curious, just want a break, or just done with booze. It aims to be a global movement that flips the script on traditional recovery, offering a fresh, no-BS approach to living sober.
How is SoberAF different from other recovery programmes?
SoberAF takes a fresh, flexible approach to sobriety. We don’t follow a 12-step programme, ask you to label yourself, or adopt specific beliefs. Instead, we give you the freedom to define your own path. Think of us as the alternative space for people looking for something a little different.
You’re welcome to use SoberAF alongside AA, SMART, or any other recovery methods that work for you.
Is it really free?
Yep. Joining SoberAF won’t cost you a penny. We do ask for donations if you can, but no one’s keeping score. Every donation goes straight into making this community stronger, covering meeting spaces, training, and resources.
How is SoberAF funded?
We run on donations, government grants, and charitable support. Every penny raised goes directly to the community, covering meeting spaces, training, and operational costs.
Is SoberAF confidential?
Absolutely. Anonymity and confidentiality are at the heart of what we do. What’s shared in meetings stays in meetings.
Why should I join SoberAF?
Because sobriety doesn’t have to suck. SoberAF is more than a support group, it’s a movement. It’s a place where you can be yourself, find your tribe, and take back control of your life. Sobriety is badass, and we’re here to prove it.
Who can join?
Anyone. Seriously. Whether you’ve been sober for years, are just starting out, or are simply curious about what life without alcohol looks like, you’re welcome here. No labels, no judgment, no need to explain yourself.
What happens in a SoberAF meeting?
-
Meetings are either online or in-person and last about two hours.
-
Meetings are led by SoberAF leaders with at least 120 days of sobriety.
-
You’ll get a chance to share your wins, struggles, or just listen - no pressure.
-
It’s a safe, supportive space without judgement.
What are the rules?
The first rule? There are no rules. But we do have a code of conduct, but really, it’s just a basic level of decency. That means we:
-
Respect each other’s journey.
-
Never use hate speech, bullying, or discrimination.
-
Keep what’s shared in meetings P+C
Who’s behind SoberAF?
SoberAF was founded by Nicky Wake, a serial entrepreneur who’s in early recovery. Disillusioned by traditional recovery programmes, Nicky created SoberAF as a rebellious, empowering alternative for people like her.
Does SoberAF offer professional counselling?
No. We’re a peer-to-peer support network, not therapists. But if you’re in crisis, we’ll point you toward the right resources, such as alcohol charities or Samaritans.
